Hello to all Drury District residents (please forward this email to all your Drury contacts)
Our community really needs your input to help shape our future.
There are many things that make up a community, but at the core of it all are the people who live here. We like to know and help each other. We like to work, play, socialise and exercise locally.
We like to have some say in how our community grows. We want to make sure that as change happens it is in a way that is good for us now and for families in the future. (Please see the bold note below to have your say next Saturday on the future of Drury’s transport)
Learn what grand plans there are for our Drury in the near future, and be a part of the decision-making process. Don’t assume that others will do what appeals to you.
There are many caring and passionate people in our community, and a few of them have faithfully worked away in the background for many years running our community committee. They are now having a well-deserved break, with others stepping up.
There are so many aspects to our community, some of them about to have a massive impact on our future….
Urbanisation – retaining our rural flavor as many more families come to live here (Another 300 homes will now join the 600 already planned for Bremner Road). Things to think about are land values / land bankers / densification. What about a retirement village in our home community?
Transport – Roading / Congestion / Mill Road Corridor / Drury train station and a ‘Park and Ride’ – where should it be located? Please notice you can have your say on “Transport for Future Urban Growth” in Drury at the Drury Hall on Saturday 27th February, 10am to 2pm
Stevenson’s industrial area. Business / Industry / Shops
Walking tracks / cycleways / bridlepaths / parks, bush and streams
And other things that are very much a part of our lives whether we are aware of them or not…
* Civil Defence and Emergency Management
* Security and crime – Neighbourhood Watch / Crimewatch Patrols / Graffiti and Vandalism
* Rates / roadsides / waste / weeds and pests / animal control / liquor licensing consents
* Community facilities such as our Library, Community Hall, Sports grounds, Schools, etc.
* Community organisations and clubs run by volunteers for the good of the community
* ANZAC Parades and other events
If any of the above (or anything else) has meaning for you please get in touch with us and help shape our present and our future.
The Drury Community Committee meets on the first Thursday of every month at 7:30pm in the Drury Library, and everybody is welcome. Note that the next meeting will be Thurs 3rd March.
